2ND ANNUAL BEACH WRESTLING DON QUIJOTE CUP

The 2nd annual Beach Wrestling Don Quijote Cup was held at Oarai Beach in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan on July 30th. PRIDE's Yoshihiro "KISS" Nakao participate in an exhibition wrestling match.

KHARITTONOV VS EMELIANENKO SET FOR SEPT 10

Sergei Kharitonov versus Aleksander Emelianenko has been confirmed for PRIDE FIGHTING'S September 10 event, FINAL CONFLICT ABSOLUTE. These former teammates will go to war as KHARITONOV returns after suffering a shoulder injury in PRIDE 31 and EMELIANENKO coming off of a loss agaisnt JOSH BARNETT. Both Russians will return to the ring and do battle in a reserve match this September at FINAL CONFLICT ABSOLUTE!

Additional cards for the joint PRIDE BUSHIDO 12 and PRIDE Welterweight Grand Prix Second Round event, to be held on August 26th at Nagoya's Rainbow Hall, were announced at a July 24th press conference held at PRIDE'S "Dreamer's" gym in Tokyo. In addition to three newcomers from the next generation of fighters, the Lightweight Division's all-stars Mach, Kawajiri and Ishida will also compete!

PRIDE's Lightweight Champion, Takanori Gomi, will return to the PRIDE ring for the first time in four months!

BUTTERBEAN TO DEBUT IN BUSHIDO SURVIVAL

It has been announced that former IBA champion, ERIC "BUTTERBEAN" ESCH will debut in BUSHIDO SURVIVAL. The 350 pounder has an impressive boxing record of 72 wins (54 KOs), 7 losses and four draws. His opponent will be the giant killer, IKUHISA MINOWA, who has defeated the likes of Giant Silva, Kimo Leopoldo and Phil Baroni. MINOWA also promises to show fans a new style of "heaven" in his fight against BUTTERBEAN who weighs almost twice his weight.

A press conference was held on July 24th at PRIDE's "Dreamers" gym in Tokyo to announce additional cards and confirmed fighters for the joint PRIDE BUSHIDO 12 and PRIDE Welterweight Grand Prix Second Round event, to be held on August 26th at Nagoya's Rainbow Hall. All three members of Team Ibaraki, Hayato "Mach" Sakurai, Tatsuya Kawajiri and Mitsuhiro Ishida, will fight in this event.

Four additional bouts: Tatsuya Kawajiri (Japan) vs. Chris Brennan (USA), Nobuhiro Obiya (Japan) vs. Gilbert Melendez (USA), Shinya Aoki (Japan) vs. Jason Black (USA) and Hatsu Hioki (Japan) vs. Jeff Curran (USA) have been announced for PRIDE FIGHTING'S upcoming August 26th event, BUSHIDO SURVIVAL 2ND ROUND '06. Others scheduled to participate include Takanori Gomi, Mitsuhiro Ishida and Ikuhisa Minowa.

Denis Kang handed a quick defeat to Murilo "Ninja" Rua at the PRIDE Welterweight Grand Prix 2006 Opening Round held at Saitama Arena on June 4th, proving the he is a contender for the Championship title. Kang may hunt his opponents down in the ring like a Cyborg but out of the ring, he is a gracious young man that sat down to do an exclusive interview with PRIDE.

Dream Stage Entertainment held a press conference in their Tokyo office on July 18th to announce match-ups for their upcoming PRIDE BUSHIDO 12 PRIDE Welterweight Grand Prix 2006 Second Round event, to be held on August 26th at the Nagoya Rainbow Hall. Akihiro Gono appeared as "DJ GOZMA"-style, in a white suit and sunglasses! Gono announced that he would give an even greater entrance in Nagoya.
