PRE-OWGP 2006 OPENING ROUND INTERVIEWS WITH HIDEHIKO YOSHIDA AND YOUSUKE NISHIJIMA
05/04/2006
Hidehiko Yoshida: I feel the same as always. I'm relaxed. I trained as usual. Did I practice high kicks? Well, you need kicks to defend against punches. I want to kick him but not get countered. There's no real reason for choosing high kicks. It's just a matter of appearance. (laughing) I thought that a high kick would be more exciting. It's fun to watch. No matter how much you practice it though, if it doesn't work in the fight, you might as well not have done it at all.

PRE-OWGP 2006 OPENING ROUND INTERVIEWS WITH KAZUYUKI FUJITA AND JAMES THOMPSON
05/04/2006
Kazuyuki Fujita: It's a tournament, so I'm ready to win this First Round and move up the ladder. I'm excited for this fight, as usual. I want to win each fight and climb up to the Final Round.

PRE-OWGP 2006 OPENING ROUND INTERVIEW WITH IKUHISA MINOWA
05/04/2006
Ikuhisa Minowa: I haven't met my opponent yet, so I feel the same as always now. I think it's a good feeling, though. I just arrived in Osaka. Looking out from my window in my hotel room and I thought that the population is incredible and this is like a computer city.

PRE-OWGP 2006 OPENING ROUND INTERVIEWS WITH ALISTAIR OVEREEM AND FABRICIO WERDUM
05/04/2006
Alistair Overeem: My condition is good, as usual. I weigh 101kg, so my weight isn't so different from last time. The fight with Kharitonov was a very good fight. I watched the fight on video again. I thought it was a good fight and I'm satisfied with it. I didn't get any injuries and I was able to finish the fight. I'm more of an all-round technician than the Heavyweight fighters and I'm faster than they are. I think I have advantages over the Heavyweight fighters in those two areas.

PRE-OWGP 2006 OPENING ROUND INTERVIEWS WITH ANTONIO RODRIGO NOGUEIRA AND ZULUZHINO
05/04/2006
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira: I couldn't come up with a plan until my opponent was decided but I was confident that I would be competing in the Grand Prix, so I trained as usual. So, my opponent being decided right before the fight didn't really affect me. I wasn't really surprised because I had some idea of who it would be. I trained hard, so I want to give a good fight this time.

PRE-OWGP 2006 OPENING ROUND INTERVIEWS WITH TSUYOSHI KOSAKA AND MARK HUNT
05/04/2006
Tsuyoshi Kosaka: I've done everything I can so I will just do whatever comes naturally after I climb in the ring. Am I more relaxed than the last time? Yes. Many things have happened since the fight with Mario. Mentally, I don't feel different but there were a lot of shocking things that happened. My child was also born. I had a lot of things to think aboutI was able to see what it means to both live and to die.

PRE-OWGP 2006 OPENING ROUND INTERVIEWS WITH JOSH BARNETT AND ALEXANDER EMELIANENKO
05/04/2006
Josh Barnett: My current weight is 115kg. I've continued to train hard since the last fight, so I've burned fat and my body has become slimmer. The training was hell. The goal of my training was to cut fat and gain muscle. If my weight just drops, it doesn't mean anything. I think that 112kg~118kg is the best weight for me.
