PRIDE PRESIDENT ATTENDS AX FIGHTING EVENT IN WASHINGTON
On July 30th, PRIDE president, Nobuyuki Sakakibara, attended the event AX Fighting Championships 6: Throwdown at the Edmonds Community College in Lynnwood, Washington. It was a night of action-packed amateur fights as PRIDE amateur rules were implemented under the guidance of PRIDE judge, Matt Hume. The amateur rules included no kicks or knees to the head on the ground, only two rounds (containing a 5 minute first round and 3 minute second round), and all fighters had to wear chin guards and knee pads. One of the main events pitted PRIDE audition winners, Tyrone Glover and Jake Draves against each other. Glover won at 1:08 of round one via keylock. Celebrity fighters in attendance included Josh Barnett, Akira Shoji, Hayato "Mach" Sakurai, and Chris Leben.
