08/26/2009
Thoomas Gerbasi - Going to the gym is a daily ritual for many around the world, a way for people to get in shape, congregate, and work off some stress. And to really rub it in on the rest of us slackers, Takeya Mizugaki is a mere 25 years old. Comeback Complete, Mir Now Aims for Consistency
07/09/2009
Thomas Gerbasi- December 27, 2008. MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. This is where the story could have ended. After a motorcycle accident that broke his leg and almost took his career and life, a series of spotty performances and a trip to rock bottom emotionally, Frank Mir finally won back a portion of the heavyweight title that he never lost in the Octagon and he did it with a spectacular knockout of a man who had never been knocked out before, Antonio Rodrigo ‘Minotauro' Nogueira. If it was a Hollywood movie, this would be when the music kicked in and the credits started to roll. Click here for the full story.

It's all about the Fight for Matt Hughes
05/21/2009
Thomas Gerbasi - Boxing legend Marvelous Marvin Hagler said it best: "It's hard to get up and do roadwork when you're wearing silk pajamas." And though it's pretty safe to say that there aren't any silk pajamas in Matt Hughes' closet, it's clear that at 35 years old, and after 50 fights, 43 wins, seven losses, and two reigns as the UFC welterweight champion, sometimes motivation isn't the easiest thing to come by. With the Work Done and the Lessons Learned, Machida's Destiny Awaits
05/21/2009
Thomas Gerbasi - Yoshizo Machida is not one to dole out praise lightly, not a teacher who tells you everything's going to be all right when it's not. His son, Lyoto, calls him his toughest critic. But when the results of his discipline and tough love are 14 wins, no losses, and a shot at the UFC light heavyweight title this Saturday night, you don't argue. Click here for the full story.

The TAO of Forrest Griffin
06/30/2008
Thomas Gerbasi - A little over three years ago, the idea of stardom hadn't set in for Forrest Griffin.
Forget that he almost single-handedly put mixed martial arts on the mainstream map with his stirring three round victory over Stephan Bonnar at the first Ultimate Fighter finale and captivated a nation with his self-effacing humor and ability to smile through a mask of blood. He was just another guy taking out his stitches with the aid of an Xacto knife nine days after the biggest fight of his life.

Sokoudjou's key to beating Nakamura — Depressurization
05/06/2008
By Chuck Mindenhall - A lot less pressure. That's what Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou says is the biggest difference between his upcoming UFC 84 fight with Kazuhiro Nakamura and his hyped UFC 79 debut bout with the more experienced Lyoto Machida. The fierce striking 2001 US Open Judo champion is built like Thor, and, though bloodied and still smarting from another intense training session at Team Quest in Murrieta, California, he's all benevolence and smiles.
Thomas Gerbasi - "I played his game for almost three rounds," said a weary but happy Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira after his fight with Tim Sylvia Saturday night in the main event of UFC 81. "He played my game for two minutes and I won the fight."
