Rogerio To Fight AFRICAN ASSASSIN!? Will Jaochim Be Able To Make A Comeback?
02/08/2007

Additional fight cards were announced for PRIDE.33 "THE SECOND COMING," to be held on Saturday, February 24th in Las Vegas. A leading figure in the Middleweight division, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will be fighting against Joachim Hansen who hopes to make up for his previous defeat against Shinya Aoki at "Shockwave 2006."

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
VS
SOKOUDJOU

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will return to the PRIDE ring after an absence of roughly 7 months. Although at one point, there were talks of Rogerio challenging Wanderlei Silva for the title, he seems to have temporarily yielded his seat to America's hero, Dan Henderson. But don't expect him to fade from title contention anytime soon. Besides the ground techniques he has brushed up at Brazilian Top Team, his top-notch boxing skills have led him to win the Brazilian Championship and compete for a spot at the Olympics. He is undoubtedly a top-class fighter. Another PRIDE victory would assure Rogerio an imminent title match.

Rogerio will be facing SOKOUDJOU, nicknamed the AFRICAN ASSASSIN, who is currently based in the U.S. and training under Dan. If he is able to make as great of an impact on the ring as he can do with his dreadlock hair and built physique, he may become a regular on PRIDE. For Rogerio and SOKOUDJOU, the next match will most certainly serve as a forecast to their future at PRIDE.

Joachim Hansen
VS
Jason Ireland

Joachim Hansen lost to Shinya Aoki at "Shockwave 2006." He expressed great disappointment at the interview following the event, "I was able to anticipate Aoki's foot choke, but I just couldn't work my way around his flexibility." If Hansen plans to fight at this year's Lightweight GP, he will need to prove himself at the upcoming event.

His opponent, Jason Ireland, has been fighting on the rings of King Of The Cage and is America's promising MMA fighter. Only two out of his record of 16 wins were won by decision, and he has also engaged in a bout against Saulo Ribeiro, Rickson Gracie's much-loved pupil. Who will survive the next match, Joachim or Jason?
