PRE-FIGHT INTERVIEW KAZUHIRO NAKAMURA & EVANGELISTA CYBORG
06/30/2006

Kazuhiro Nakamura: I feel the same as always. I've lost a little weight so my movement is good, too. I didn't train overseas this time but I've had some very good experiences until now. I decided to train in Japan rather than fly all over the place this time.

Kazuhiro Nakamura: I feel the same as always. I've lost a little weight so my movement is good, too. I didn't train overseas this time but I've had some very good experiences until now. I decided to train in Japan rather than fly all over the place this time.
Actually, I learned boxing from Naoto Takahashi this time. I couldn't master his right counter but I did learn the in-fighting that Takahashi is so good at. From what I've seen of his fights, Cyborg is only aiming for the KO. What? He's won by submission recently? I haven't seen that fight, so I don't know anything about it. (laughing) Well, I think we are going to tie up, so I can't say much about that at the moment.
My feelings have changed ahead of this fight, though, because the world seems to be going crazy over PRIDE. Since 2 years ago I felt responsible for PRIDE whenever I was fighting but no one wanted to recognize that. Maybe I'm the only one that feels that way. Fighters that have only fought in PRIDE since their debut feel more strongly in their love for PRIDE than others do. The fans and the PRIDE staff have take care of me and I have to keep doing my best, even if PRIDE faces some problems.
Why was I angry with Nakao in the press conference? It's not that I hate Nakao or making jokes. I just didn't think that press conference was the time for it. It's not right to do that in front of people that I still wondering what's going to happen to PRIDE in the future. His attitude is different than mine. So, please don't compare Nakao and myself in this fight, because we are different people. However, if Nakao can win like Fedor or Nogueira, I will respect him, though.
Yes, I do want to win and give some momentum to Yoshida. Many of my fights have been on the 1st card of the night, so this is nice to have some time to spare. I can relax and fight slowly. I hope to win by submission or KO in the end.
To all the fans, times are turbulent but I will give you a fight that will touch your heart.

Evangelista Cyborg: I'm extremely happy that I can fight in PRIDE. I will definitely give a great fight. I've changed in many ways since I moved to Chute Boxe. My standing and ground techniques, and of course my physical side, have improved. I've become a completely different fighter since my move.
I learn jujitsu from Christiano and Nino at the Academy. I think my ground skills have improved by training with them every day. As a result, I've become able to win by submission. The times demand a complete fighter now, not someone who is good at just one thing.
My opponent, Nakamura, is a good fighter. He's popular in Japan and I was really happy when this fight was confirmed. If possible, I'd like to KO him standing but I'm also thinking about a ground fight. The type of fight will depend on what Nakamura brings to the table. Anyway, I want you to see everything of me in the fight. From start to finish, it will be stimulating, emotional fight. Since PRIDE allows them, I definitely want to try out the soccer-ball kicks, stomps and 4-point position kicks.
To all the PRIDE fans, I will fight my best. This is just the 1st step for me in PRIDE, so look forward to the future!
