Following the press conference held on May 17th to announce the June 4th PRIDE BUSHIDO 11 and PRIDE Welterweight Grand Prix 2006 Opening Round event, Hayato "Mach" Sakurai spoke with reporters.

Hayato "Mach" Sakurai: I've been taking it easy since the fight on New Year's Eve. I don't remember much, actually. I don't really get into a special fighting mode or anything like that. I'm always in fighting mode. I've just been living my life, looking at the trees and the flowers and feeling the wind.
I made my students do physical training for our Saturday practice. Then the T-BLOOD (gym) students came and I trained with them. We train in the mountains in Ibaragi. It's not the first time I've been in the same ring with Kawajiri or Ishida, so it's not that special. It's just like, well, everyone from Ibaragi doing their best together.
About "making fate my friend"? I haven't had much luck lately and I want to have fate on my side. I won't want to think that I'm unlucky when things don't go my way. I want to know that fate is on my side and I was lucky. If I think about it in those terms, I'm lucky right now. I will do my best in this fight and knock him out. I will knock him out because fate is on my side!
