SEICHI IKEMOTO INTERVIEW PRIDE BUSHIDO 10
03/20/2006

At a March 14th press conference at the Dream Stage Entertainment office in Tokyo, the first appearance of Seichi Ikemoto, the "speed star", was announced on the PRIDE BUSHIDO 10 card, to be held at Tokyo's Ariake Coliseum on April 2nd.

Seichi Ikemoto is the ace of DEEP's newest event, REALISM. Ikemoto, making his debut in PRIDE BUSHIDO, is know as the "speed star" because of ability to amaze the fans with his quick fights.

"My advantage is speed," Ikemoto said at the conference. "I'm going to move around quickly during the 10 minutes, giving an exciting fight in a way that others can't and I will definitely finish the fight."

Although Ikemoto's opponent has yet to be determined, current plans call for a strong foreign fighter who will also be making his BUSHIDO debut.
Ikemoto normally fights at around 81kg but will drop to 73kg as he jumps into the fierce Lightweight division, "I would be at a disadvantage if I moved up a weight class so there's no choice but to cut weight. I'm now losing weight so I can move down to a new weight class."

Ikemoto's height is 180cm (5' 11"), with arms and legs that are unusually long for a Japanese fighter. There's no doubt that he will become a threat to this weight class. Ikemoto is confident that with practice, he will be able to effectively use stomps, which are allowed under PRIDE rules.

"This is an important match for me. My martial arts career will be on the line, so I want to do my best," Ikemoto continued, saying that after he builds a solid foundation, he wants to go after the Lightweight Champion, Takanori Gomi, in the future.
