Simsons is the 2 nd Dream Stages Pictures production. Based on a true story, this is the tale of 4 girls in the town of Tokorocho . It is in this town facing Hokkaido 's Sea of Okhotsk , a town of "Scallops, ruins and curling" that the girls aim for the Salt Lake Olympics.
Today's press conference was attended by the President of Dream Stages Pictures, Nobuyuki Sakakibara, the producer, Takeshi Moriya, the director, Yuichi Sato, and 9 cast members, including the stars, Rosa Kato, Mina Fujii, Mai Takahashi and Nanase Hoshii.
"I'm very happy that we are able to announce our 2 nd production," Sakakibara, who also served as general director, commented on the film. "I would like to thank Takeshi Moriya, Yuichi Sato, the cast and the people of Tokorocho. I believe that you will also feel their courage and desire to succeed as you watch these 4 young girls do their best, and I hope you will take away something good from this."
"I felt the attraction of the Simsons when I watched the Salt Lake Olympics about 4 years ago. Since the Torino Olympics are coming up next year, I'm glad that we were able to put the emotions of 4 years ago on film. I hope that this movie, combined with the participation of the actual Simsons in the Torino Olympics will bring about a curling movement," Moriya said. The director, Sato, added, "This is a movie about 18 year old girls that are full of energy but aren't sure how to use it. I hope the strength of these 4 cute, slightly silly actresses and all the actors that supported them will spread across the world through this film."
The introductions were followed by greetings from the cast, a Q&A session and the 4 young stars laughing as they talked about the filming and their hopes for the real Simsons in the upcoming Torino Olympics. "I'm looking forward to watching the matches now that I know the rules. It feels like my friends will be in the Torino Olympics." (Kato) "I hope they will be successful in the Olympics." Fujii) "I feel close to curling now. I will cheer them on with all my heart." (Takahashi) "I haven't actually met them but I have seen the real Simsons' picture and I feel close to them." (Hoshii)
