SAKURABA, NOGUEIRA INTERVIEWS
03/06/2003

The Nogueira brothers came to Japan on March 11th in preparation for their upcoming fights in PRIDE 25. Pride Heavyweight Champion, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, will fight Emelianenko Fedor while Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will fight Kazuhiro Nakamura.

Pride Fighting Championships: How's your conditioning?
Rodrigo Nogueira: I'm always at 100%. We always train hard and we trained ever harder for these fights because they are going to be more difficult.
Rogerio Nogueira: We trained 3 times per day. Both Rodrigo's and my opponent are very tough.
Pride Fighting Championships : What do you think of last year?
Shungo Oyama: Hmm... It felt really busy. I wanted to please everyone around me, probably wanted to please them too much. I think I really pushed myself down too far. I was too concerned about the voices around me and bound myself up. I'd like to relax a little more this year.
Pride: Rogerio, your opponent, Kazuhiro Nakamura, said that he's going to knock you out with a left to the body. What do you think about that?
Rogerio Nogueira: I think that will be difficult to do. To put it plainly, that won't happen. I train standing too so I think Nakamura is going to be the one who gets the surprise.
Pride: Rodrigo, have you prepared any new techniques in preparation for your fight with Fedor?
Rodrigo Nogueira: I practiced a lot of new techniques. I watched his videos many times and practiced about how deal with him. If I get a chance, I'll use them.
Pride: Sakuraba held a press conference a few days ago and he said that he was interested in you.
Rodrigo Nogueira: Sakuraba has great technique and he's a very strong fighter. I'd love to fight him if I got the chance.
Pride: There's been some concern over the future of Pride. What do you think about that?
Rodrigo Nogueira: PRIDE is a great event with only the best fighters. There's no way it will go away.
Oyama: I feel very bad that I haven't been able to live up to your expectations in the past. I'm growing and moving forward, step by step, and I hope to show you a more grown "me" on March 16th. I hope you will all support me.
Pride: Anything for Henderson?
Oyama: This PRIDE will be a memorial for Mr. Morishita so let's give it all that we've got. Let's do our best and fight in a way that would make Mr. Morishita proud. That's what I'd like to say to him.
