FILA SEND OLYMPIC WRESTLERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD TO THE PRIDE RING
01/07/2005

Following the end of the 4th match in the December 31st, 2004 PRIDE SHOCKWAVE, International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA) President Raphael Martinetti and Japan Wrestling Federation Chairman Fukuda entered the ring to make a big announcement!

"As President of the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles in Spain, I am delivering good news to everyone here. We will now allow the professional activity of amateur wrestlers across the world. Additionally, we will send Olympic wrestlers from all over the world to the PRIDE ring," President Martinetti said.

President Martinetti continued his explosive announcement, declaring that World Champion and Olympic medalist wrestlers from across the world would be officially sent to PRIDE, "There are 160 countries registered with FILA and there are strong wrestlers that you have not yet heard about. We will send them, with confidence, in 2005. Please look forward to the new army of amateur wrestling fighters."

"We want to create a tie-up between FILA, with 160 registered countries, and PRIDE/DSE, to send Olympic medalists and World Champions to the peak of the mixed martial arts world," Chairman Fukuda added. "We want to prove the real strength of wrestling and we pray for the further development of mixed martial arts."

So, it looks like we can expect FILA-recognized amateur wrestlers to follow in Rulon Gardner's footsteps and climb into the PRIDE ring in 2005!
