PRIDE BUSHIDO 4 PRE-FIGHT INTERVIEWS
07/21/2004
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

Pride Fighting Championships: What're your age, height and weight?
Rogerio Nogueira: I'm 28 years old, 93 kg and 180cm.
Pride: In PRIDE, you are 4 wins and no losses, right? What is your overall career record?
Nogueira: 8 wins and 1 loss.
Pride: Who will be in your corner this time?
Nogueira: Luis Alvis, Mario Sperry and Milton.
Pride: Anything changed since the last time we saw you?
Nogueira: I had a problem with the ligaments in my elbow.
Pride: You had an operation?
Nogueira: Yeah.
Pride: When?
Nogueira: In April, but now it's good.
Pride: 100%?
Nogueira: 20 days after the surgery, I started to train again. Now, it's 100%. My older brother has had a lot of problems. This is nothing.
Pride: Were you hurt in training or in the Sakuraba fight?
Nogueira: In training, before the Sakuraba fight. When I fought with Sakuraba, I already had the problem. It was from an armbar. A purple belt did it to me. I was surprised. When I'm training with Mario or those guys and they get me in an armbar, I tap quickly. But, I couldn't believe it when the purple belt got an armbar on me.
Pride: Who did you prepare with more for this fight?
Nogueira: Muay thai, boxing and wrestling. Jiu-jitsu was only 3 times per week. I trained in a lot of boxing and muay thai. I know this guy is training a lot of muay thai now. He will want to keep it standing.
Pride: The event on New Year's Eve with Sakuraba, do you think it was one of your best fights yet?
Nogueira: For me, it was a really important fight because it was a chance to fight with someone famous.
Pride: Everyone wants Wanderlei Silva and his belt. How close do you think you are? Do you think you deserve a shot at Silva soon or do you think you need some more matches?
Nogueira: I want Wanderlei Silva but I think I will fight in the middleweight tournament next year before I fight the Champion.
Pride: What do you do to relax?
Nogueira: Just date and go to movies.
Pride: Do you surf?
Nogueira: No. I just like to relax at home. Just staying home with my dogs.
Pride: How do you and your brother support each other, with words of encouragement or pushing in training?
Nogueira: Basically, it's in the training. Especially my brother, he gives me lots of good advice.
