PRIDE-31 POST FIGHT INTERVIEWS
03/01/2006
Alistair Overeem
Pride Fighting Championships:
That was an amazing fight. Was that how you planned it?
Alistair Overeem:
I had prepared for a ground fight so it was basically as I planned.
Pride:
Did you have trouble going for a lock or a choke?
Overeem:
I trained for it but Kharitonov escaped. I wasn't able to submit him but I was prepared for it.
Pride:
How did it feel to fight at 103kg?
Overeem:
I gained weight so I lost some speed.
Pride:
Will you lose weight after this fight?
Overeem:
No.
Pride:
How about for the Open Weight Grand Prix?
Overeem:
I want to gain a little more weight.
Pride:
Kharitonov was considered as top contender against Fedor.
Overeem:
I respected him before the fight and I do now, too. His boxing skill has improved and he's a good fighter. My feeling of respect hasn't changed.
Pride:
Would you like to fight Shogun?
Overeem:
I would like to fight Shogun in the Open Weight or Heavyweight Divisions. There are a lot of fighters coming into PRIDE though, so I don't know what will happen.
Pride:
Would you like to fight Fedor?
Overeem:
If there's a lot of money on the line. (laughing)
Pride:
Why didn't you bring your trademark sledgehammer with you this time?
Overeem:
I just forgot it. I will bring it next time.
