PRE-PRIDE BUSHIDO 3 INTERVIEW
05/24/2004
Kazuhiro Nakamura
Pride Fighting Championships:
You're doing very well, winning your last 2 fights. How are you approaching this fight?
Kazuhiro Nakamura :
I've only won by decision so I'd like to submit him.
Pride :
Your opponent is a very good boxer. You had good striking against Dos Caras, Jr. Will you standup with Chalid or take it to the ground?
Nakamura :
I'd like to trade with him a little bit. I was a little scared of striking in the beginning but now I'm comfortable.
Pride :
What have you been working on since your last fight?
Nakamura :
Boxing. I always workout on the ground with Yoshida and Kosaka. I didn't change the content of my training but increased the amount.
Pride :
How much boxing do you do each day?
Nakamura :
I box every day for about 2 hours.
Pride :
How do you think boxing training compares to ground training?
Nakamura :
I think both of them are styles in which the more you learn, the more you realize that you don't know.
Pride :
Would you like to fight Nogueira again to erase your loss to him?
Nakamura :
Of course. I wanted to fight him again immediately after our fight.
Pride :
What would you do different this time?
Nakamura :
I didn't know any striking at that time. I didn't want to get hit in the face, either. Now, I don't care. It doesn't bother me if I get hit and my face swells up.
Pride :
What do you think is the key to victory against Chalid?
Nakamura :
I believe that I am better than him so I think I will find a chance to finish him in the ring.
Pride :
What's your goal for the rest of the year?
Nakamura :
I dropped weight so I want to be strong enough that they will invite me to fight in the next Middleweight Grand Prix.
Pride :
What would you like American fans to know about you?
Nakamura :
I'm a fighter but I also teach judo to children with Yoshida.
Pride :
Anybody you'd like to fight in the Middleweight division?
Nakamura :
Wanderlei Silva, of course.
