BUSHIDO 5 INTERVIEW
11/15/2004
Ryuki Ueyama

Pride Fighting Championships: What did you think of the fight?
Ueyama: I think it was exactly what you'd expect when you have this kind of difference in body size. I think I won the 2nd but I lost the 1st. Minowa was really tired in the 2nd round and I thought I might be able to get a submission but he stuck to me. I thought it was a quick match but if I'd had one more round, I could have submitted him. I think the first round left a bad impression. Everyone thought that, because of the size difference, it'd be dangerous if I was on the bottom and that's what happened.
Pride: Did Tamura give you any advice?
Ueyama: No, I didn't receive any special advice. He just told me that Minowa has more power and stamina that people think. I fought him and Tamura was right.
Pride: What do you think about the 2-1 decision?
Ueyama: It's a must-system so they have to pick one or the other. I think it would have been a draw if they were allowed. I think I lost the first round, being on the bottom, but I won the 2nd. The 1st round is longer so that's probably the reason for the decision.
