NICK DIAZNick Diaz is a product of the Cesar Gracie camp, which has seen many of its young, talented fighters successfully compete in a variety of organizations. Since his debut in 2001, Diaz has primarily competed in the UFC, amassing more than 20 fights. With a purple belt in Brazilian jujitsu and professional boxing experience, Diaz is an all-round fighter who can stand and grapple with the best. In his 2nd UFC bout at UFC 47, Diaz knocked out Robbie Lawler, who recently won his own PRIDE debut by TKO at 22 seconds in the 1st round in the previous Las Vegas PRIDE event, PRIDE 32. In the April 2006 UFC 59, Diaz lost to the current UFC Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk but fought his way to the decision. In addition to his Brazilian jujitsu-based ground skills and his boxing, aided by his long reach, Diaz also possesses an impressive fighting instinct. Diaz and his opponent engaged in an impromptu re-match in the middle of the hospital following his bout in UFC 57. Diaz is the real American fireball, always looking to crush his opponent. Will he be able to take out PRIDE Lightweight Champion Takanori Gomi in one of the biggest challenges of his lifetime? |
