Youji Anjo

Yoji Anjo will forever be known for "the challenge." In 1994 Anjo traveled from Japan to Los Angeles to personally challenge Rickson Gracie at Gracie's Jiu Jitsu academy. A Japanese pro-wrestling star, Anjo brought with him members of the Japanese press and was intent on challenging Gracie in a fight of honor. Unfortunately for Anjo fans, he was beaten to a bloody pulp and choked unconscious, though the story remains one of the greatest dojo challenges in all of martial arts history. Showing his humbleness, Anjo would later return to Gracie's academy to thank him for the fight and to pay his respects to the legendary fighter. Besides "the challenge," Anjo is an extremely tough wrestler in his own right. This 3-time UFC veteran is persistent and possesses a strong chin, making him a tough opponent on any given night. SHOCKWAVE is Anjo's PRIDE debut.
