Jerrel VenetiaanDutchman Jerrel Venetiaan comes to PRIDE FC with an impressive kickboxing resume. An expert striker, Venetiaan is the 2001 K-1 World Grand Prix Champion (for Holland) and has over forty victories, including wins over the likes of Remy Bonjasky, Errol Parris, and Jurgen Kruth. Though Venetiaan's first mixed martial arts match was in 1999, he has primarily focused on his kick boxing career. His PRIDE FC debut took place at SHOCKWAVE 2002 in which he defeated Japanese fighter Daijiro Matsui by split decision. Very early in his MMA career, Venetiaan actually had the misfortune of breaking both of his hands in a fight (in a KO loss against "Dirty" Bob Schrijber of Holland). It's no secret that Venetiaan is primarily a striker. His ground game is suspect, so opponents will always try and take him to the ground to neutralize him, but make no mistake, if the fight remains standing, Venetiaan is deadly! |
