Akira ShojiPerhaps no other fighter in PRIDE FC embodies the "way of the warrior" more than Akira Shoji. No matter who the opponent or what the circumstances, Shoji will fight as if every match was his last. He is one of the smallest competitors in the heavyweight division, yet constantly displays incredible tenacity, endurance and a willingness to take on any opponent, regardless of size (at PRIDE FC "Beasts from the East" the 5'8 Shoji battled the 6'10 Semmy Schilt). Because of this warrior spirit, Shoji has gained a legion of followers and has fought in PRIDE FC nineteen times. His strength is in his very solid Jiu Jitsu skills, which often leads opponents to avoid a ground fight with him. Recently, however, Shoji has traveled to the United States to hone his striking skills and work on his overall game.
